Bank of America’s Museums on Us: Free General Admission

Share

We all know I love things that are free. I also love going to museums. We have an abundance of them here in Chicago, which I feel very lucky to have access to, but unfortunately they are very pricey.

Each of the museums do have their own schedule of free days, but they always seem to be on days that are inconvenient to my schedule. That’s why I love Bank of America’s Museums On Us. It happens on the first weekend of every month, so I can easily pick one of those days.

The only catch is you have to have some sort of Bank of America card (ATM, debit, or credit). You should also bring a photo ID, but I’ve never been asked to provide both. If you already have a Bank of America card then you should definitely be taking advantage of this program if it’s available in your area.

Currently the program has over 100 museums across the United States. It’s isn’t available everywhere at this time, but they’re adding new cities and states all the time.

Now, if you’re the forgetful type, you can sign up for free text or email reminders so you’ll never miss an opportunity for free admission.

Even if you’re not into museums, make sure to check the list for your city because sometimes places like Aquariums are included–it’s not strictly museums!

Here in Chicago, the program currently includes the Art Institute, Chicago History Museum, Museum of Contemporary Art, and the Shedd Aquarium. If I were to go to each of those museums once, the general admission would cost me nearly $70. Instead, I can go for free during any of the free weekends.

Vacation Tip: This is also great to keep in mind in terms of planning vacations. If you can plan one around the first weekend of the month in a participating city, then you can greatly reduce your costs by going to the museums featured in the promotion for free.
