Site Update: Successful Move but No Internet
I just wanted everyone to know all is well & the move was a success. Unfortunately AT&T has once again screwed up and dealing with their incompetent customer service has been a nightmare. We are without Internet & it may be a few days before we get it so there may not be any posts for awhile.
I may find some opportunities to get online & post before then, but I think I want to take this time to unpack & settle in. I will return to regular posting shortly, so stay tuned.
Moving Tomorrow - Here’s How I Saved Money
As I’ve mentioned before, I’m moving tomorrow. This is the second time this year, but thankfully it will be the last time for a while.
Our internet service is supposed to start at our new place tomorrow, but who knows if it actually will. So if there aren’t any posts for a few days, you know why. I’ve tried to schedule a couple posts in advance just in case.
But as a nice review, here are some of the moving tips I used to save money over this three month, double moving adventure:
- I reduced the amount of stuff I had to move by giving away or donating unneeded items and made some money by selling books to used book stores.
- I found free moving boxes by getting them from friends and rescuing them from recycling bins in my alley.
- I saved money by shopping around and taking advantage of the cheap first month’s rent at Public Storage.
- I saved money by not buying packing supplies and just using items I already had.
- I saved money by using resuable products for cleaning, like reusable Swiffer cloths and rags instead of paper towels.
- I prepared for moving day by putting together a moving day kit and planning ahead to save money on the day.
So the big move is tomorrow, and then I’ll be back blogging for you soon!
Off to Enjoy a Relaxing Beach Day
Today is our last beach day before the move, so the boyfriend and I are off to enjoy the sun and sand and of course, beautiful Lake Michigan.
There will be no thrifty posts this morning since I will be without technology, but I’ll have a nice post this evening detailing how we made a great, fun day happen for very little money!
I hope everyone else gets a chance to enjoy their Sunday as well!
Site Update: Moving Again
Just to let everyone know, I am moving again this weekend (July 31st), so posting may be a little light this week as I pack and prepare and complete the move. This will be the last move for a long time though, so yay!
Hopefully everything should return to normal sometime next week.
Site Update: Possible Delay in Posts
The past few days I’ve had some problems with my server. There have been times the site isn’t accessible, but most of the time I just can’t access WordPress to add new posts. Unfortunately it kept me from making any posts this weekend in the free time I had.
We’re doing our best to troubleshoot and fix the issue. Until it’s resolved, there may be delays in posts or problems accessing the site. I’m so sorry about these issues and appreciate everyone’s readership. Hopefully we’ll be back to normal very soon.
Site Update
Sorry for the lack of posts. This whole moving-thing has turned out to be a lot more stressful and time consuming than I thought it would.
The move is happening Thursday, so hopefully I’ll have some time to get back to posting this weekend or early next week.
So here we go…
Hello and welcome to my new blog.
Lately, as I’ve searched for new ways to save money I’ve noticed there is a plethora of blogs devoted to the subject, offering all kinds of advice for living life on the cheap. As I read these blogs, getting all kinds of great tips, I realized most of them were created by and geared towards Moms.
Often their content was universal–anyone can use a coupon–but a lot of the time their recommendations never quite translated well enough to suit my lifestyle as a young, post-college 20 something with a ton of student loan debt, a low paying job, and only me to take care of.
So I wondered, why isn’t there anyone out there representing me and the millions of other 20 somethings out there trying to be thrifty?
And that’s why I’m here. I’m here to represent the rest of us, the unmarried and childless who are dealing with college, roommates, low paying entry level jobs, student loans, dating, etc etc. I know I’m not the only one who wants to save money while still being young and active and enjoying these awesome 20 something years.
So stick around, subscribe to the RSS feed, and hopefully you’ll learn a few tips to save you money and maybe even make your life a little easier. And maybe some of those thrifty moms can learn a few things too.
