Happy Halloween! Get Some Freebies & Deals

Happy Halloween everyone! If you celebrate the holiday, or even if you don’t, this is a great day to have fun and enjoy a little sugar. It’s also a great day for freebies.

Check out a a full list of Halloween freebies over at Hey It’s Free.

If you want to watch a spooky movie today, see what movies you can stream online for free.

The boyfriend and I went to a Halloween party last night, so we’re enjoying a night in and watching a few “scary” movies.

Tomorrow morning we plan on heading out to the grocery store to check out the clearance Halloween items. November 1st is the best day to get deals on Halloween candy, decorations, costumes, and more. The stores need to clear that space ASAP for Christmas stock, so go and get ready for next year.

I’m just a chocolate addict, so I’m looking forward to cheap candy!

Free Advanced Movie Screening: The Princess & The Frog

 Powered by Max Banner Ads

I know a lot of people are looking forward to this movie, so I wanted to post about this as soon as I found out about it from Money Saving Methods.

If you’ve been living under a rock and don’t know anything about Disney’s newest animated film The Princess and the Frog, this is the plot summary via IMDB: A fairy tale centered on a young girl named Princess Tiana who lives in New Orleans’ French Quarter during the Jazz Age. I’ll include the trailer at the end of this post.

The Princess and the Frog will be in theaters on December 11th, but if you live in one of the following cities you can print passes for two to an advanced screening:

  • Atlanta (1/5/09)
  • Chicago (12/05/09)
  • Dallas (12/05/09)
  • Los Angeles (11/21/09)
  • New York (11/21/09)

To get your passes, go to the site and select your city. That will give you a pdf file, which you’ll print out and that will be your pass. It’s good for 2 people.

The passes will be available until 12/05/09, but it says on a first come, first serve basis, so it’s possible they’ll fill up after a certain number of downloads, so if you’re interested in seeing the film for free, go print your pass now!

I’m sure this screening is going to be very popular, so make sure you get to the theater early to ensure you’ll get in. If you’re new to advanced movie screenings, check out my tips.

Watch Free Online Streaming Scary Movies on Halloween

Halloween is tomorrow night. Those who celebrate the holiday will do a lot of different things, like dress up in costumes to go trick-or-treating or attend a party. One of my favorite Halloween night activities is pretty simple. I like to sit down with some friends or the boyfriend and watch scary movies.

We used to go out and rent them, but now thanks to all of the amazing free streaming sites out there, there’s plenty to watch online for free!

Hulu has set up their own Huluween page with all their spooky videos, including full-length movies.

Some notable movies include:

Joost has their own horror category with tons of full-length movies to choose from, including:

So if you want to spend a night in watching a few scary movies, you don’t have to spend a dime.

Free Advanced Movie Screening: Gentlemen Broncos

I am excited about this one! I’ve actually be waiting very patiently for Fox Searchlight to start releasing the advanced screening info for Gentlemen Broncos, because I am huge nerd and cannot wait to see this movie.

This movie is by the director of Napoleon Dynamite and Nacho Libre, so it looks like it’s a similar style of humor as those films. The plot summary according to IMDB: A teenager attends a fantasy writers’ convention where he discovers his idea has been stolen by an established novelist.

There’s only a couple cities available right now, but I know they usually add more cities and dates in a couple of days, so I’ll post when they do. You can either check back here or subscribe to my RSS feed for updates on the cities.

The cities available now are:

  • Denver
  • Los Angeles
  • Montreal
  • New York
  • Philadelphia
  • Salt Lake City
  • Washington DC

Additional Cities (added 10/23 & 10/28):

  • Austin
  • Chicago
  • Houston
  • Boston
  • Cleveland
  • Milwaukee
  • Minneapolis
  • San Diego
  • Toronto

Screenings start tomorrow (10/22) and seem to go until mid November, so there should be plenty of time to get in on this screening once more dates and locations are added.

This is a Fox Searchlight screening, so getting the free tickets is pretty simple. Go to the site, select the location you’re interested and the time you want to attend. Fill in your info, and you’ll receive an email which you’ll print out and take with you as your pass. You can reserve up to two tickets.

Make sure to get there early, since it’s first come first sit. If you’re new to advanced movie screenings, check out my tips.

Theatrical Trailer:

Never Pay for Shipping on Amazon.com Again

I love Amazon.com. You can buy anything there (and I mean anything). One of the best things about Amazon.com is that they offer Free Super Saving Shipping when you buy $25 or more of eligible products. Sometimes it’s a little tricky to hit that $25 mark without going crazy with the purchases. A common scenario is adding a few items to your cart and seeing that you need to spend a couple bucks more to get the free shipping.

That’s where Amazon Filler Item Finder comes to the rescue. Just type in how much money you need to get the free shipping, and it automatically searches Amazon.com for qualifying items at that price and higher. Just pick something off the list and you’re all set to get your free shipping and a fun bonus item.

This is my real life example of using the filler item finder. Today I was buying two items off of Amazon and once I added them both to my cart, I was 1 cent away from the free shipping. A single penny! How frustrating is that? So I searched the item founder and found plenty of items under a dollar, the lowest being 7 cents (anyone know what this is?). But in the end I got my free shipping, so I was quite happy.

Now I don’t actually pay for anything I buy from Amazon.com, since I just use the gift certificates I earn from places like Swagbucks and MTurk, but still I like saving money and stretching those gift cards as far as I can. Using the Free Super Saving Shipping is just one of the ways I do that.

Free Advanced Movie Screening: “Amelia”

Well, I just found out about a new advanced screening. This one is for Amelia, starring Hilary Swank. The plot summary via IMDB:

A look at the life of legendary American pilot Amelia Earhart, who disappeared while flying over the Pacific Ocean in 1937 in an attempt to make a flight around the world.

Tickets are available all across the country in a ton of cities, so I’m not going to list them all. Most cities only have one screening scheduled, and the dates are between 10/20-22. The film opens in theaters on October 23rd.

This is another Fox Searchlight film, so it’s pretty simple to get passes. Go to their website, select what city you want, and the screening you want, then fill in your info. Your pass will be emailed to you, which you just take in to the theater. Arrive early, because the seats are rewarded on a first come, first serve basis.
