Print Free Passes to an Advanced Screening of “500 Days of Summer”
Update: This movie is now in theaters, but there are still free screenings available in some cities up to the end of July, so it doesn’t hurt to check what’s available in your area. To be notified of other advanced screenings in the future, make sure to subscribe to my feed.
Last night I was so lucky to receive an email inviting me to a free advanced screening of 500 Days of Summer. I love free movie screenings, and since I live in a major city, we seem so have a lot of them. Plus this move looked really amusing, so I was excited to see it early (and for free).
I enjoyed the film a lot. It was very funny and original. Since there are more advanced screenings available across the United States, I wanted to recommend my readers give it a try (Check out the trailer below if you want a preview of the film).
Getting the passes is easy: Go to the website and select your city (they claim there’s over 100 cities). Fill out the info and your email address–you will be emailed the pass you have to print out. You can get it for 1 or 2 people. You can sign up more than once to get as many passes as you need.
Make sure you get to the theater early. These advanced screenings are usually overbooked because the studios want it to be full. How early you should be there depends on how big your city is, the popularity of the film, and the size of the theater.
From my experience, going to screenings in downtown Chicago demands you’re there an hour and a half to two hours early (many people will arrive even earlier than that). The screening I went to last night was in Evanston (just north of Chicago) and we would have been fine as long as we were there 20-30 minutes early.
Use your best judgment, but the earlier you are the better the chance is that you’ll get in and get a seat. Occasionally, if there’s too many people, the theater or studio will give out passes to another screening in the future, but that doesn’t always happen.
This is a great opportunity to get together with a bunch of friends, or even a free activity for a date. Just bring a book or a deck of cards for the wait, and enjoy a free flick!
